Random snaps from spaces past.

Some better pics of the current house colors (thanks overcast skies!). I want to paint that bench Safety Yellow… the Bauhaus Gold doesn’t have the pop I’d anticipated. Wondering too if the star would be better in a brighter color, like Jade teal instead of plum….

Zee kitchen so far. We intended to build a wall today… ran into some electrical issues though with trying to move/modify a triple light switch that took a few hours. Instead we moved the baseboard heater and slid the fridge into its new spot. So far so good!

Slowwwwwww progress.

Kitchen/dining area re-mod ideas.  Bigger pic can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/all_about_evelyn/8010162308/sizes/l/in/photostream/
Details by numbers:

1. chalkboard fridge.
2. color that the chairs will be repainted (very similar) & probably the color of the upper shelves that will be in place of cabinets.
3. painted teal cabinets.
4. another teal paint swatch.
5. moodboard type swatches - cabinets, chairs & shelves, drapes (color on white ground?) as seen on A Beautiful Mess.
6. planning on painting some accent on our table neon pink, like these chair legs.
7. basic wall layout - base cabinets (except teal), butcher block counters, tile (mirror tile instead) and wood above with shelves mounted.
8. mirror tile backsplash between the upper plywood wall & the butcher block counters, just like this.
9. the locker cabinet I’ll be painting a brighter teal to use as a pantry (integrated with the other cabinets).
10. head of the table chairs x 2, also to be painted the same yellow.
11. butcher block counter tops.

the mural is up.  my marriage survived (barely).  I’m hoping some of the wrinkles and bubbles settle out once the glue dries.  we are going to add some vertical wood trim to either end, like we did with the last one… it looks a little nicer, I think.

I need to revamp my profile.

It only took 9 years but the white bug hit me and we repainted three of the rooms in our house.  I also splurged and bought the Anthro Lush Landscape bed set with a portion of our tax return.  The top two pics are the room as-is, the bottom is a moodboard of what I want to add:

  • diy fuchsia ruffle curtains
  • a yellow Panton S chair knockoff
  • an oval jute rug at the end of the bed
  • probably change out the green beads with some coconut disc curtains for the bed, and…
  • medallion designs for the closet doors (also white now) - either in silver paint marker or in wood vinyl/thin wood veneer (likely the chunkier version if that’s the case).

Not included in the mockup - the enormous piece of art I have rough ideas for in my head, to hang over the sideboard.  Lots of color, but bigger swathes than the quilt.  Measurements: 66”x48”.  And some stuff for the headboard shelf, but less regimented than the previous incarnation.  I ordered a cute white ball alarm clock.

Also - I’m hoping to have some more rough pics to show in a day or two of the other (unfinished) rooms.

1&2: details

3: I love how it looks in dim light.  Her eyes glow.

4: Wide view of the kitchen/dining area.  Where we’re imagining a new table, and there’s usually a white fluffy flokati rug beneath it.  And where that green candelabra will live.

(an aside: the bee idea came from a cover shot I saw of Lana del Rey, but after deducing & reading that she’s had collagen injections in her top lip {whaaaaat??} I decided to loosely base it upon the HBIC of rock whose bee stung pout is unenhanced…. Ms. Shirley Ann Manson.)

bummer.

The MCM aluminum candelabra broke again.

So I ordered this one instead.
