Some snaps from last year’s arrangement.

Old outdoor spaces. Pre-pergola. Trying to find a balance of something that will serve us for a while.

Some better pics of the current house colors (thanks overcast skies!). I want to paint that bench Safety Yellow… the Bauhaus Gold doesn’t have the pop I’d anticipated. Wondering too if the star would be better in a brighter color, like Jade teal instead of plum….

I’d bought this rug for the living room but it was too much b&w pattern between the curtains and this and the TVD painting.  So I relocated it to the bedroom on a whim aka the spot I haven’t been able to decide on a rug for.

It’s perfect.

Details by numbers:

1. chalkboard fridge.
2. color that the chairs will be repainted (very similar) & probably the color of the upper shelves that will be in place of cabinets.
3. painted teal cabinets.
4. another teal paint swatch.
5. moodboard type swatches - cabinets, chairs & shelves, drapes (color on white ground?) as seen on A Beautiful Mess.
6. planning on painting some accent on our table neon pink, like these chair legs.
7. basic wall layout - base cabinets (except teal), butcher block counters, tile (mirror tile instead) and wood above with shelves mounted.
8. mirror tile backsplash between the upper plywood wall & the butcher block counters, just like this.
9. the locker cabinet I’ll be painting a brighter teal to use as a pantry (integrated with the other cabinets).
10. head of the table chairs x 2, also to be painted the same yellow.
11. butcher block counter tops.

One of my favorite rooms.  I never finished reupholstering the back of that sofa but I loved it - so sexy.  And the mural, round chair, curtains… it was pretty much perfection.  There weren’t a whole lot of changes/improvements I would have made.  I kind of miss its awesomeness.

Previous bathroom incarnations since April 2009.  I liked all of them, but the current one in my previous post is my favorite by far.

Our bathroom.  It’s the one year anniversary of painting it and happening upon this decoration combo (after 4 or 5 previous versions).  I spent the weekend of Hurricane Irene painting the bathroom in the midst of constant torrential downpours and the worry over possible power outages and flooding.  Such a drastically different scene from this extremely dry summer where everything wants to wilt from the heat and lack of water!

Anyway, it looks the same now.  Probably the longest I’ve left a room alone without any tweaking (except for the addition of a small frog toilet in the hopes of enticing my daughter to potty train).  We do have plans for bigger renos eventually - I love cobalt blue as a color but hate it on that tile.  I’d love to put in some basic white subway tile with a glass mosaic accent, and probably a teal painted clawfoot tub instead of our rusting iron one.  Some other type of wood floor would be nice instead of peel and stick linoleum, too, and a white toilet to match the rest of the bathroom suite instead of the almond colored one.

But otherwise - I still really love it, everything pops so nicely against that dark neutral wall color.  I imagine we’d keep most of the rest of the decor the same.

It just works.
